Bike Around The Borough
19/06/15
Lily participated in Bike Around The Borough, a 9 mile, mass bike ride organised by Hackney Council. She rode with 860 other children from 30 Hackney primary schools, stopping halfway at the Olympic Park to watch mountain bike stunts accompanied by a live calypso band. What a great way to spend a school day!

Top-rope climbing
11/06/15
Today was an inset day so we headed to the Castle Climbing Centre. It’s been a long time since we did anything other than bouldering but the kids were eager to try top-rope climbing again, so I brushed up my belaying skills and they climbed for a good 3 hours, building their confidence with each ascent.

Harry is 7!

Vote Ferocious Strawberries!
19/05/15

Ok you’re not actually allowed to vote unless you’re a student at the school, but as the Chief Press Officer of Lily’s Ferocious Strawberry party I thought you might like to see her campaign materials.
Some dubious tactics have already emerged: on Monday the Greens offered goody bags in exchange for votes. This inspired Lily to design stickers and rally her press office into action. Minutes before setting off for school this morning she was filling envelopes with Ferocious Strawberry stickers and mini-manifestos.
One of the envelopes contained a Golden Ticket entitling the finder to an as-yet-undisclosed special prize. Once word got around during her lunch-break campaigning she was mobbed with excited kids who then spontaneously formed a procession around the playground chanting “Vote Ferocious Strawberries!”
The vote is tomorrow morning. I know who I’m backing!
Spring Fair chicken stocks
20/03/15
I made this chicken-themed Teacher Humiliation Device for the school’s Spring Fair. Two brave teachers volunteered to allow vengeful kids to chuck soggy sponges at their faces to raise money for playground equipment.
I ran the stall and was really pleased with how it went. The sun came out and the teachers were brilliant sports, goading the children to do their worst.
There was a constant queue of children eager to pay 50p for three throws. Altogether the fair raised £850 which was good going for a two hour event.
Bike race
13/03/15
I went along to support them. Considering it was their first race, and a first for the school, they did really well!
Lily and the other girls were exhausted – Lily said it was “horrible”! But I think it was a great experience for her. I’m not sure what place she came (I didn’t see the ending because I was helping a girl who had crashed) but out of about 25 year 5 girls she came in around 8th – 12th.
