Black or White
20/07/16
Years 5 & 6 gave a fantastic performance at their graduation show today. The show was a musical tribute to Michael Jackson – here’s a clip of them performing Black or White (Lily’s at the back left):

Just scanned these from a template sketchpad Lily got for Christmas last year. She’s been drawing fashion designs for years!
Harry’s birthday bash
11/06/16
Harry had requested a traditional piñata for his party so Caroline made an amazing and delicious piñata cake to accompany it.
The party games were also traditional, but British rather than Mexican: The game where you eat a bar of chocolate with a knife and fork; The game where everyone tries to pick up a cereal box without using their hands & without touching the floor; And the controversial 1 minute cream cracker eating challenge.
We constructed the piñata over the course of the preceding week, with Grandma completing its fantastic paint-job the night before. It was surprisingly resilient, standing up to over 20 minutes of abuse before the dramatic breach (video below).

Thanks to everyone who came, thanks Nikky & Rob for bravely supporting the piñata, and thanks Ben for the fab video!

Summer Fair board
01/08/15
After the success of the Spring Fair chicken stocks I made another board for the Summer Fair. What could capture the spirit of Summer more than a Victorian strong man riding a leaping dolphin?

CCH Saturday training
20/06/15
For the second week running, I coaxed Lily & Harry out of the house before 9 this morning to go along to Cycling Club Hackney’s Saturday training session.
This week the group rode to the Olympic Velopark which I was delighted about: I’ve ridden on the outdoor track there twice before and I knew that Lily & Harry would love it.
They did really well. Prosper, one of the CCH coaches, taught them how to ride in a chain, taking it in turns to lead the team of 6. We had a snack and a look at the indoor track, then we did a few more laps in two groups of 3.
Altogether Harry did about 7 mile-long laps and Lily did 9. She told me she felt a real sense of achievement.
Shacklewell Street Play
19/06/15
The Shacklewell Parents’ Association, which I help out with, organised a Street Play event today. The road outside school was closed off for a couple of hours of fun in the sun.
