One year on

It’s our first anniversary of moving to Toronto! Still hot and humid here…
Gill, Simon & Lauren arrived yesterday and last weekend we had Pat, Melanie, Honor and Huw here – it’s a bloody social whirlwind!
I owe you some photos dear readers… hello?

I didn’t make this video but it shows the exciting storm we had a couple of evenings ago

Lily cooling off in a neighbourhood sprinkler
Last week we escaped the city heat at a lovely lakeside cottage which I’ll post some photos of soon.
Lily has been in Gymnastics Summer Camp this week, and seems to be loving it. Every morning I’m cycling my heavy bike 3.7 km each way to drop her off, and again in the afternoon to pick her up.
Today I brought her friend Keliyah back with her, on Toronto’s hottest day since 1948…
Her next summer camp is at the Harbourfront Centre, which is 4.4km. So I’m expecting to be pretty fit by the end of summer!

Harry’s room sang this song for his daycare’s Summer Concert earlier this week (accompanied by me!). You can’t actually see him in the show here but you can see him practicing… and here are the words if you want to sing along!
I’m a friend, so are you
Friendship is like special glue
‘Cause we stick together, never fall apart
Friendship is a special art.
We are friends, night and day
Friends at work and friends at play
Doesn’t matter if we’re happy or we’re sad
Friendship always makes us glad.
Friends like us always share
Sharing shows how much we care
We can share a snack, a story or a toy
Friendship brings us special joy!

Face of Dufferin

Lily’s classmate’s dad is some kind of genius for spotting this in the alumni magazine of Toronto University’s Physical Education & Health department. The feature is about one of the founders of our favourite park, Dufferin Grove.
