Lest we forget the maisonette

20/09/14

The renovation is going to end in the next few weeks so I wanted to preserve a memory* of the chaotic quarters we’ve been living in for the last 6 months – effectively an upstairs maisonette over a building site.

It’s a reasonable amount of space for the four of us but what’s made it awkward is not having a proper kitchen. Appliances, utensils, crockery and food have been distributed in various places, including under our bed.

*I’m allowing the sound of hammering. drilling, shouting in Polish and the interminable, repetitive playlist of whatever European-radio-station-it-is-they’ve-had-playing-almost-constantly-since-March to be thankfully forgotten
