Plasticine art

21/04/12

Today at the Royal Ontario Museum we saw Barbara Reid, famous plasticine artist, presenting a new book about trees. Afterwards there was a workshop – here are the results:

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Lily has met Barbara Reid before!

  1. These both look fantastic. Did they take a long time to create?

    • hi Em, they took about an hour I think. We were pretty much the last ones there. Barbara Reid came to look just before we left and she was impressed, and the lady running the workshop said Lily’s was the best she’d seen all day 🙂

    • I should admit they had some help: I blended colours, made lots of little blobs for them to flatten into leaves, and rolled branches for Harry.

Caroline helped Harry do the background.

It was very relaxing! I was happily blending colours for ages…

They handed out empty CD jewel cases to work on, so when you’re finished you can close the cover and stop the plasticine from getting squashed.
