Timewarp

13/10/10

Ok I am going to bring this blog up to date by skimming over the major events of the last week or two… Here goes!

It’s Autumn! Which in Canada is known as Autumn! Ok they do call it Fall too, I admit, but I will continue to pretend not to know what they mean.

Lily got a bunkbed, which will help when we’ve got friends with kids visiting. She loves it, but she hasn’t actually slept on the top bunk yet.

Next door to the bunkbed shop was a place that sold just bird feeding equipment, so we bought a Squirrel Buster Mini. The Black Capped Chickadees are enjoying it a lot, and so far no squirrels have attempted to crack it, presumably for fear of being busted.

We bought a load of winter gear from the Mountain Equipment Co-op – Pat you were right, it is great! Feeling more prepared, but are we really, truly ready…?

After 4 and a bit weeks our stuff finally arrived. Our wonderful stuff!

Hang on, what is all this crap? Where are those pristine white boxes!

This is how much maple syrup we’ve consumed since we arrived. I think we have just about managed the legal minimum required to remain in the country. Phew!

  1. You should do what I do when North Americans say “Fall”. Immediately drop on the floor and shout “what?”

Always has them confused. Of course most of the North Americans I see are on TV and apparently can’t see me. But I still do it out of loyalty to the Queen…

  2. I’m sure her majesty would be gladdened to think of you hurling yourself repeatedly to the lounge carpet as a gesture of loyalty

  3. Gosh, you guys had to wait a whole 4 weeks for your stuff? We’re pushing 13! and it’s still not through customs. Not that I’m bitter or anything. I’m guessing they are a bit more efficient in Canada than they are in China. We’ve had weeks of delays on account of national holidays, 1 day of rain, and just yesterday, a cruise ship that trumped our shipment when it was waiting for the final signature. arghhh!

    • Oh man what a nightmare. But when you actually get the stuff it’ll be like opening a time capsule!
